Born in 1991, Daniel Petrica CIOBANU started piano at age 9 at Piatra Neamt Music School in Romania. He studied with various teachers until joining the Royal Conservatory of Scotland, under the tutelage of Aaron Shorr, Petras Geniusas and Steven Osborne.
1st Prize at the 2010 Moray d'Elgin Competition, he is invited in 2011 to perform with Lang Lang at the Royal Festival Hall, in an orchestra of 100 pianos on stage. This one chooses him to play in front of the 3000 people a solo piece of his choice. 1st Prize at the International Competition of Bromsgrove, 2nd Prize in the professional category of the International Piano Competition "Adilia Alieva", semi-finalist at the prestigious "Scottish International Piano Competition", 2nd Prize at the Competition "André Dumortier" of Leuze, 2nd Prize and "Public Prize" at the International Piano Competition "Montrond Les Bains". In 2015, the International Piano Competition of the OPM (Philharmonic Orchestra of Morocco) rewards it very generously: 1st Grand Prix voted unanimously, "Audience Award" and the "Orchestra Prize". A few months later, he won the 1st Prize of the "Sheepdrove Piano Competition" where each of the eight principal conservatories of the United Kingdom presents his best pianists. He then enjoys one of three "Yamaha Music Foundation Europe Scholarship". He continues in 2016 with the 1st Prize of the UNISA contest in Pretoria and BNDES in Rio de Janeiro. The consecration arrives in 2017 with the 2nd Prize and Audience Award at the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv.
Daniel Petrica Ciobanu is considered one of the most "exciting" pianists on the international scene today, he is distinguished by a breathtaking creativity, combined with a deep and refined meditation ability. Thanks to all this, he has the chance to play with many orchestras: the Israeli Camerata and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv, the "Mihail Jora" Orchestra of Bacau, the "Cergy Pontoise" Orchestra of Paris, the Musical Chapel of Tournai in Belgium, Royal Conservatory of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Pretoria Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfonica do Brazil and the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra ". He is invited in many countries: Aldwell Center in Jerusalem, Bronfman Auditorium in Tel-Aviv, Baxter Theater Center in Cape Town, Teatro Municipal de Rio de Janeiro, Tsinghua University in Beijing, Kasbah of the Arab House in Marrakech, British Consulate in Los Angeles, Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria, Salle Cortot in Paris, Fazioli Concert Hall in Sacile, Italy, Royal Festival Hall in London, and Scotland in Inverness, Isle of Man, Lanark, Musselbrough, Edinburgh, Glasgow. He performed in recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York on October 19, 2018 and in the Konzerthaus in Berlin on April 4, 2019.
