In the 2017-18 season German-Hungarian Mezzo-Soprano Corinna Scheurle joined the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper unter den Linden in Berlin. Her first season at the Staatsoper included performances as Sandmännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Annina in Verdi’s La traviata, and Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She debuted with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester in a concert performance of Verdi’s Luisa Miller conducted by Ivan Repušić and appeared in recital at Opéra de Lille with pianist Akemi Murakami. She ended the season in the role of Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin at Festspielhaus Baden Baden.
In the 2018-19 season Ms. Scheurle returns to the Staatsoper unter den Linden for roles such as Sandmännchen, Second Lady, and Annina, and takes the stage in two Verdi titles – as Inez in Il Trovatore and as Giovanna in a new Bartlett Sher production of Rigoletto conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada. She also appears in Cherubini’s Medée directed by Andrea Breth and in Widmann’s Babylon directed by Andreas Kriegenburg, both productions are conducted by Daniel Barenboim. The season also includes recitals in Berlin, Leipzig and Darmstadt. She also debuts at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Anina in La Traviata.
In Summer 2017 Corinna Scheurle gave her debut at the Bregenzer Festspiele in the role of Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. She also took the stage in the role of Ruggiero in performances of Händel’s Alcina at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in 2016. In productions of the Theaterakademie August Everding, she could be seen as Penelope in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse, as Older Woman in Flight by Jonathan Dove in collaboration with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and as Fatima in Die arabische Nacht by Christian Jost.
She has worked with directors such as Achim Freyer, Frank Hilbrich, Balázs Kovalik, Isabel Ostermann, Martina Veh und David Zurbuchen. The conductors she worked with include Ulf Schirmer, Attilio Cremonesi, Ian Fountain, Errico Fresis, Eva Pons and Joachim Tschiedel.
Corinna Scheurle is a first prize winner of the Gasteig Musikpreis 2017 and could be heard in the semi-finale of the international singing competition Neue Stimmen 2015 under the baton of Graeme Jenkins. Furthermore she joined the Masterclass of Neue Stimmen in 2016 and received multiple awards from the competition Jugend musiziert. In 2015 Corinna Scheurle received a scholarship from the Hans und Eugenia Jütting Stiftung in Stendal.
She started her vocal studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin, where she was a student of Carola Höhn and Enrico Facini. From 2015-2017 she studied with Prof. Christiane Iven at the Theaterakademie August Everding.
She complemented her musical training with masterclasses led by Michelle Breedt, John Norris, Klesie Kelly-Moog, Kurt Widmer und Claudia Rueggeberg and received important impulses in Lied interpretation from Christiane Iven, Donald Sulzen, Klesie Kelly, Axel Bauni and Sayali Dadas.
