About

Born in 1990, Clément Peigné first studied the cello at the conservatory in Tours, and subsequently with Xavier Gagnepain and Hortense Cartier-Bresson at the Boulogne-Billancourt conservatory, where he won prizes for cello and chamber music. Having won an Indiana University scholarship, he took lessons with Janos Starker at the Bloomington School of Music. He then enrolled at the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse in Paris where he studied with Marc Coppey, earning a Master’s degree in June 2017. He has also studied with Nicolas Altstaedt at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.

Peigné has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra since 2015, has taken part in a number of workshops given by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and was a member of the Zermatt Festival Academy.

He was a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy 2014 under the direction of Matthias Pintscher, when he worked with such composers as Heinz Holliger, Krzysztof Penderecki and Gérard Pesson. He has focused on contemporary repertoire in various Diplômes d’Artistes Interprètes workshops and in concerts with the Ensemble InterContemporain. In 2015, he founded the Trio Sacher with Eun-Joo Lee and Vladimir Perčević, a group which dedicates itself to twentieth- and twenty-first-century music and frequently collaborates with young composers.

Peigné plays a cello built by Gustave Bernardel in 1901.
