Clemens Gordon was born in Salzburg. He received his first violin lessons at the age of five, and switched to viola at the age of 16.
In 2008 he was accepted into the concert class of Thomas Riebl at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. He continued his master studies with Veronika Hagen and Hans Peter Ochsenhofer at the Music University of Vienna. Masterclasses with Hartmut Rohde, Mikhail Zemtsov, Ivry Gitlis and members of the Vienna Philharmonic complement his education. In 2012 he won the Concorso "Lionel Tertis". After orchestral experience with the Camerata Salzburg, at the Vienna State Opera and with the Vienna Philharmonic, he has been a member of the Bavarian State Orchestra since 2014 - first in the Tutti and since the season 2018/19 as Deputy Solobratscher.
