Christopher Kaplan was born in Stuttgart, received a private musical education in the subjects violin and piano and sang in the children's choir of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. From 2007 to 2011, the young tenor completed a vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where he received a bachelor's degree and masterclasses with Ks. Francisco Araiza, Ks. Edith Mathis, Neil Shicoff, Susanna Eken, Edith Wiens, Eytan Pessen and Gerd Uecker added. In 2010 he received a scholarship from the Society of Friends of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.
Already during his studies, Christopher Kaplan received a guest contract in the 2009/10 season at the Stuttgart Opera for Sebastian Nübling's adaptation of Vivaldi's Judith, which was co-produced with the Salzburg Festival. In the following season, he sang to the resumption of Judith and was to witness the role of the bricklayer in Jonathan Dove's Pinocchio's adventure. Furthermore, Christopher Kaplan designed Tempo in a staged performance of Handel's Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno with the baroque ensemble Il gusto barocco under Jörg Halubek in Stuttgart.
At the Bayreuth Baroque Festival, he sang in Les Fêtes d'Hébé ou Les Talents lyriques by Jean-Philippe Rameau and played the roles of Mercure and John Styx as part of a university production of Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart.
Christopher Kaplan debuted in 2012 as Tamino in The Magic Flute at the Croatian National Opera Zagreb and guested as Ali in Rossini's Adina ovvero Il Califfo di Bagdad at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad and from 2012 to 2014 the tenor was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden where he among others Don Curzio at Le Nozze di Figaro, Ariadne at Naxos, 3rd Jew at Salome and 2nd Priest in The Magic Flute sang.
Then the young tenor guested as Malcolm in Verdi's Macbeth and as Parpignol in Puccini's La Bohème at the Hessian State Theater Darmstadt. At the Staatstheater Mainz he made his debut as Balthasar Zorn in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and guested at the Semperoper Dresden as Conte di Lerma in Don Carlo, 2nd Priest in The Magic Flute and as voice 3 in the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti's Mise en abyme (reflection).
As a sought-after concert and oratorio soloist, Christopher Kaplan has a repertoire that includes key works of the genre from Claudio Monteverdi to Carl Orff.
He has worked with renowned conductors including Paolo Arrivabeni, Asher Fisch, Joerg Halubek, Will Humburg, Julia Jones, Stefan Klingele, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Cornelius Meister, Ivan Repušic and Christian Thielemann.
Since 2017, he has participated in the Bayreuth Festival in the award-winning production of Barry Kosky The Mastersingers of R. Wagner under the direction of Phillipe Jordan as Ulrich Eißlinger.
Since 2017 he is also a permanent ensemble member of the multi-award winning SWR vocal ensemble.
In addition to his classical singing activities, he is also a singer / songwriter where his first release will take place soon.
