About
Christoph Hampe received his cellist training at the universities in Munich under Prof. Walter Nothas and Hamburg under Prof. Wolfgang Mehlhorn. Chamber music and master classes complemented his studies.
He received his musical influence from the pianistic and musical wealth of his mother Liesel Heidersdorf. Musical discovery trips with the composers Johannes Harneit and Matthias Ronnefeld in Hamburg sparked his interest in contemporary music.
He received intensive chamber music training from Ilan Gronich in the Ensemble Oriol Berlin, of which Christoph Hampe was a member from 1990. He is also a founding member of the Kammerakademie Potsdam.
As a cellist, Christoph Hampe bridges the gap between baroque performance practice and modern sound experiments. The chamber music aspect of playing music together is always the focus of his interest.
