Christoph Franzgrote has been performing with the Met Orchestra since 1991, and has also loved playing regularly for many years with both the Orchestra of St. Luke's and the band for the Encores series at City Center.
He was a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for seven years and has served as principal second violinist for the NJSO, Glimmerglass Opera, and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, as well as concertmaster for Bel Canto at Caramoor, the Ring cycle at Arizona Opera, and Bernstein's Wonderful Town on Broadway, among others. A native of sunny Pasadena, California, he received both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife Ellen and their daughter Clara. His other passions include Rock & Roll, photography, and Trilobite fossils.
