Christoph Altstaedt's 2015/16 season opens with his debut for Glyndebourne Opera when he conducts their 2015 production, in Lewes and on tour, of Mozart's die Entführung aus dem Serail, directed by David McVicar. The season also see his debut with Theater Basel for a new production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte directed by Julia Hölscher and further ahead he will make his debut with Opera North and Opera Zurich.
Until summer 2014 Altstaedt was Kapellmeister for Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, where he conducted a variety of productions including La bohème, Carmen, Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Hänsel und Gretel, La traviata, Luisa Miller and Werther. In June 2014 he also conducted a ballet production of Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem choreographed by Martin Schläpfer.
Upcoming orchestral engagements include worldwide debuts with the Mozarteum Orchester at the Salzburg Festival, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Musica and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Altstaedt also returns to Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern festival to conduct the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, which follows their highly successful collaboration in 2014 when they gave concerts across Germany, including in Berlin with soloist Veronika Eberle.
Highlights of recent seasons include debuts with the hr-Sinfonieorchester, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur Orchester, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Philharmonie Zuidnederlands at Amsterdam¹s Concertgebouw and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In spring 2015 he also made his US debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
