Passion for dancing was born at an early age, having moved to Milan with Sicily, always in the heart: Chiara Amazio, a 19-year-old dancer from Catania, is one of the many Sicilian eminent personalities in the world of art and sports who left their land. from a very young age to pursue a great dream. “I was born with this passion in my body, I always wanted to be a dancer and become an artist. At about seven years old, ”admits Chiara,“ I realized that dancing is more than just a hobby. The conviction matured in me that I could turn it into a job. ”
The professional path started very early for Chiara Amazio when, at the age of 13, she left Catania to enter the Academy of the Scala Theater in Milan. “My mother recorded me for an audition without even telling me: I had fears and second thoughts, but I felt that this was an important step. It was great to be accepted at the Academy where we really work for the future. ” It is clear that the difficulties associated with the distance from their loved ones were not: “It is difficult to get used to another, already so young reality, suddenly leaving the family. My mother understood this and moved to Milan to stay with me and experience this experience with me. ”
From a professional point of view, the return to Sicily took place on July 15 last year, when Chiara Amazio performed at the Antico Theater in Taormina with Carmen José Pérez, an international sketch that played a dual role as choreographer and male hero: The project is produced by the Massimo Bellini Theater from Catania collaboration with the association Futuro Danza Palermo. An investment for a dancer from Catania, who recently graduated with honors from the Scala Teatro Alla Academy. In a company that includes many Sicilians, Chiara Amazio was chosen to play a leading role: a difficult task, considering her young age, which was an important test bed. “The opportunity to dance in front of an audience was an incredible joy: it’s great to be able to show that even such a young group of dancers can dance at a high level.”
The performance with Jose Perez caused many difficulties: “He is an excellent dancer and choreographer, and he has much more experience than me. I felt the pressure of having to learn many things in a short time: I had to burn the stages to be in the lead. Thus, it is difficult to put on “Carmen”: I studied a lot of ballet and plot, and during the last week of rehearsals I finally managed to penetrate the image, to fully understand his passion. I had invaluable educational experience. ”
Chiara Amazio is also optimistic about the future of dance in her own land: “The fact that the Massimo Bellini Theater has taken such an initiative makes me think that something is changing. It is wrong that the boys of Catania must leave in order to study well and grow professionally: I hope that we, the young dancers, will have more interest. ” The future that Chiara wants to face without special worries: “I hope to gain experience in Germany and Austria, these are the countries in which we dance most, but I still want to let everything flow in the right direction without planning anything.”
