Overview
Qi Aiyun and Zhang Tao headline an evening of Qinqiang Opera excerpts, joined by Li Min and the Shaanxi Grand Drama Qinqiang Opera Troupe.

It has two excerpts from A Visit to West Lake, "Ghostly Grievances" and "Killing", and two from The Burning of Incense, "Beating the God and Complaining at the Temple" and "Probing Love".

In "Ghostly Grievances", the unjustly dead Li Huiniang, full of hatred for Jia Sidao, is given a magical fan that lets her pass between the worlds of the living and the dead. In "Killing", Jia Sidao orders his henchman Liao Yin to murder the imprisoned Pei Ruiqing; her ghost fights Liao Yin and helps Pei escape, with a fire-breathing feat.

In "Beating the God and Complaining at the Temple", Jiao Guiying pleads at the Sea God's temple against Wang Kui's betrayal; when the god does not answer, she strikes his statue with her water sleeves and hangs herself. In "Probing Love" her ghost tests Wang Kui's remorse; he denies knowing her and draws his sword, and she has him seized for judgment in the underworld.

Qi Aiyun, Li Min and Zhang Tao won the 21st, 32nd and 27th China Theatre Plum Blossom Awards respectively. Chaoyang Theatre, 21 November 2026, 19:45.
