Cesare Lievi (Gargnano, 1952) is an Italian theater director, poet and playwright.
He was part of the editorial staff of the poetry magazine Niebo, directed by Milo De Angelis and translated poems from the German (an activity that he still practices). With his brother Daniele, set designer, he founded the "Teatro dell'Acqua" in his hometown in the early 1980s. Among the performances of that period, the show based on Bluebeard by Georg Trakl, which was presented at the Venice Biennale in 1984, was particularly successful. In 2009 he won the Ubu Award for best drama with La badante.
He was appointed Superintendent and Artistic Director for the Prose of the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine for the years 2010 and 2011.
