About

Born in Braila, Romania, Carmen graduated at the Music Academy ”Gheorghe Dima” fom Cluj Napoca.  She debuted in Romania in 2006 as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini.

In 2007 Carmen won the first prize at the “Haricleea Darclee” contest held in Braila and in 2010 she won the AS.LI.CO. contest in Como for the role of Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. She studied in Italy with Mariella Devia and in 2011, Carmen won the first prize at the Puccini contest “Città di Lucca”.

Carmen debuted in Italy in 2011 with the role of Angelina in La cenerentola with the direction of Rosetta Cucchi in Lombardia theatres: Teatro Grande in Brescia, Fraschini in Pavia, Ponchielli in Cremona, Sociale in Como and also Municipale in Piacenza. In 2012-2013 she sang the role of Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri by Rossini directed by Luigi Pizzi at Grande in Brescia, Ponchielli in Cremona, Alighieri in Ravenna, Municipale in Piacenza, Sociale in Como, Fraschini in Pavia, and Coccia in Novara.

In 2011 she debuted at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli singing Carmen in Carmen by Bizet. She sang with Jorge de Leon, Norah Amsellem, under the baton of conductor Alain Guingal, directed by Micha von Hoecke. She performed Arsace in Semiramide by Rossini with Gregory Kunde under the baton of conductor Gabriele Ferro, directed by Luca Ronconi. She was also part of Romeo et Juliette by Berlioz at the San Carlo in Napoli. She sang Carmen at the Teatre Principal in Palma de Majorca with Carlos Alvarez. In the summer of 2016 she made her debut at the Arena di Verona in Carmen as the title role.

Among her recent commitments Carmen has performed in Cavalleria rusticana and Aida in Bucharest and in Bologna under the baton of Michele Mariotti, Fenena in Nabucco, Carmen, Amneris in Aida at the Arena di Verona, Azucena in Trovatore in Essen, Carmen in Shanghai, and Trovatore in Bari.

Her upcoming performances include: Nabucco in Napoli, La forza del destino in Beijing, Adriana Lecouvreur at Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Cavalleria rusticana in Genova and Bari, Anna Bolena at the Sydney Opera House, and Don Carlos in Frankfurt.
