About
Italian costume designer Carla Teti made her Royal Opera debut in 2015 on Guillaume Tell, directed by Damiano Michieletto. She returned later that year to work on Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci, also directed by Michieletto.
Teti studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and in 2011 won the Premio Abbiati award for her designs. She works regularly with directors Daniele Abbado and Michieletto. For Abbado her costume designs have included Don Carlo for Vienna State Opera, Boris Godunov in Turin, Ermione for the Rossini Festival, Pesaro, Madama Butterfly in Bari and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Bari and Reggio Emilia. For Michieletto her designs include Samson et Dalila for Paris Opéra, Il trittico for Royal Danish Opera and Theater an der Wien, Madama Butterfly in Turin, Lucia di Lammermoor in Zürich, Idomeneo and Rossini’s Otello for Theater an der Wien, Roméo et Juliette and The Rake’s Progress for La Fenice, Venice, Un ballo in maschera for La Scala, Milan, and La bohème, Falstaff for Salzburg Festival and Die Zauberflöte in Florence.
Teti works regularly with the theatre group I Fratellini. Her theatre credits include costume designs for theatres in Venice, including at the Theater-Biennale, and for the Teatro Argentina in Rome, including King Lear and Cyrano de Bergerac.
