The Camerata Medica Wien is a non-profit orchestral association consisting of more than 60 musicians, whose members mainly come from medical and pharmaceutical professions, many of them with professional musical training. One of the goals of the association is to revive the tradition of a "Viennese Medical Orchestra", which goes back to the early 20th century. The Vienna Doctors Orchestra was already very much valued at that time for its artistic level. However, World War II and the post-war period interrupted this tradition for more than 50 years.
