Trained at the National Conservatory of Music of Lyon with Margreet Honig and at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna after Walter Moore, Boris Grappe developed his repertoire in the troupe of the National Theater Mannheim, where he interpreted, among other roles of Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva, Guglielmo, Papageno, Figaro (The Barber of Seville), Harlekin, Donner, Schaunard, Falke, Albert, etc ... He sang Morales (Carmen) at the Theater of the Chatelet and the San Carlo of Naples, Danilo (The Merry Widow) at the Comic Opera, Melot (Tristan and Isolde) at the Ruhrtriennale, Bonn and Darmstadt, Bobinet (La Vie Parisienne) at the Opéra de Lyon, the title role of Don Giovanni in Koblenz and Clermont-Ferrand, Frédéric (Lakmé) in Rennes, Lausanne and Saint-Etienne.
He has taken part in many world premieres, such as Arnulf Herrmann's Wasser at the Munich Biennale and Christian Lauba's La Lettre des sables at the Bordeaux Opera. In 2012, the German press salutes his interpretation of the title role of Salinen's Barabbas Dialogues at the Frankfurt Opera House.
He performed in concert with Les Arts Florissants or Les Musicians du Louvre in places such as the Barbican Center in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. . He has collaborated with such conductors as Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Alain Altinoglu, Kirill Petrenko, Alberto Zedda, Marc Minkowski, Christie Christie, Christophe Rousset, Dan Ettinger and Friedemann Layer, as well as directors such as Willy Decker, Achim Freyer, Laurent Pelly, Jean-François Sivadier, Jerome Savary, Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier.
In recent seasons, he has performed Lescaut (Manon) in Lausanne, Puck (The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein) and Sganarelle (The Doctor in spite of himself) in Geneva, Killian (Der Freischütz) in Limoges, Juliette of Martinů in Frankfurt, Truck (King Carrot) at the Opéra national de Lyon. He addressed the title role of Wozzeck in Dijon in 2015.
