About

La Bomba de Tiempo was created in 2006 by Santiago Vázquez with the aim to apply his musical language Rhythm with Signs for the first time. So he assembled some of the best percussionists in the area of Buenos Aires and nearby.

The aim of the ensemble, since its foundation, has been to exploit the rhythm resource to the fullest to produce powerful and danceable music which could genuinely represent, through improvisation, the influences of all its members and the multifaceted culture of Buenos Aires inhabitants. Since then, La Bomba de Tiempo has received guest artists and spectators from all over Argentina, which turns it into a representative phenomenon of our culture both nationally and internationally.
In 2014, Santiago Vázquez left the direction of the group, which is currently conducted by its members on a rotational basis.

The group has been performingevery Monday at Konex for twelve seasons.

More than 5 million people have already seen them.
Every show becomes a unique and magical moment in which the percussionists also interact with the audience, who contribute with their energy by dancing and listening, creating a true ritual of rhythm and percussion.
For 12 years, La Bomba de Tiempo has been performing non-stop every Monday at Ciudad Cultural Konex, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Little by little, their concerts have grown massive and have eventually become the highest shows event in the city.
The well-known “Lunes Bomba” has turned into a can’t-miss event for locals and for national and international tourists visiting the city of Buenos Aires.

Every show has a guest who joins the game of musical improvisation and interaction. Hundreds of Argentinean and foreign musicians with different styles have already been on stage with La Bomba: Calle 13, Café Tacuba, Jorge Drexler, Totó La Momposina, Natalia Lafourcade, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Bersuit Vergarabat, Pedro Aznar, Kevin Johansen, Rubén Rada, Paulinho Moska, Jarabe de Palo, Hugo Fattoruso, Catupecu Machu, Los Pericos, among many others.
La Bomba de Tiempo has been declared of “Cultural Interest” by Buenos Aires City Legislature, and it’s released a DVD+CD La Bomba de Tiempo – Vivo en Buenos Aires, in which great artists such as IKV, Los Cafres, Los Auténticos Decadentes and Chango Spasiuk have taken part. This record, produced in 2014 at Konex and directed by Ariel Hassan, was performed at Luna Park in a terrific party which made the whole stadium vibrate.
At the beginning of 2016, La Bomba de Tiempo went on an international tour and performed in England – three nights in a row at The Forge – and in the United Arab Emirates, where they were the supporting band for Carlos Santana at the Dubai Jazz Festival.
In 2017, Editorial Atlántida launched La Bomba de Tiempo. Ritual y ritmo, a book written by journalists Humphrey Inzillo y Gabriel Plaza which goes over the history of the band and its members, as well as the socio-cultural phenomenon they’ve become in Argentina.
In 2017, La Bomba released their first single “Near The Drums”, sung by Kevin Johansen, (available in all digital platforms). The song is based on the conversation between the band and the great Carlos Santana at Dubai Jazz Festival 2016.
In May 2018, La Bomba released “Buenos Aires Bomba”, sung by the fantastic Julieta Venegas (available in all digital platforms). This heart-warming song metaphorically narrates the connection of La bomba with the city of Buenos Aires and all the followers who, every Monday, come to enjoy the classic #LunesBomba.
