About
Born in Hamburg, soprano Bettina Jensen received her musical education from Norma Sharp at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin. She won several vocal competitions and was awarded numerous scholarships, the Hanns-Eisler-Prize, among others.
While studying, she gained first stage experience being engaged by various opera houses, such as the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, where she appeared as Gorgo in Richard Strauss´ musical comedy “Des Esels Schatten”, in Klagenfurt (Austria), where she convinced as Servilia in Mozart´s “La Clemenza di Tito”, and at the Komische Oper Berlin, where she successfully sang the First Lady in Mozart´s “The Magic Flute” as well as the role of Agathe in von Weber´s “Der Freischütz”. She furthermore appeared in Lucerne (1999), where Agathe, Donna Anna in Mozart´s “Don Giovanni” and the Governess in Britten´s “The Turn of the Screw” were very successful with audience and press alike.
Between 2002 and 2007, she continually broadened her repertoire as a member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin, working with numerous acknowledged directors and conductors, performing Marie in Smetanas´s “The Bartered Bride”, Countess in Mozart´s “Le Nozze di Figaro”, Micaela in Bizet´s“Carmen”, Rosalinde in Strauss´ operetta “Die Fledermaus”, and Hanna Glawari in Lèhar´s “The Merry Widow”. She also won over the audience with her celebrated Agathe and as Donna Anna.
2014 Bettina Jensen made her debut as ARIADNE in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS at the Konzert Theater Bern (Switzerland).
In 2017 Bettina Jensen made her awesome debut as ELETTRA in IDOMENEO with the CBSO and the conductor MIRGA GRAZINYTE-TYLA in Birmingham in the symphony hall in England.
Guest performances have brought her to the USA (Rosalinde/Fledermaus, Senta/The Flying Dutchman) as well as to opera houses in Germany of Wiesbaden, Essen, Hannover, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin, Bremen, Hannover, Kassel, Leipzig, Linz (Austria), Basel (Switzerland), Tokio (Japan), Tel Aviv (Israel), Hong Kong Opera (China), Barcelona Teatre del Liceu (Spain), Birmingham Concert Hall (England), and to name a few.
In 2011, Bettina Jensen started to give Master classes and is often invited to teach, e.g. in Tokyo, Berlin, Jakarta, Swinemünde/Polen and Zurich.
With Ronith Mues, solo-harpist in the Berlin Konzerthausorchestra, Bettina Jensen founded the *DuoBerlin* in 2012, and they had concerts e.g. in Hamburg/Laeiszhalle, Berlin/Konzerthaus, Bremen/die Glocke.
