About

Nourished by the rich Basque choral tradition, in which he actively participates since his childhood, Bernard Arrieta is conducting studies of singing, trumpet and choir conducting in San Sebastián (Spain), while obtaining a master's degree in chemistry at the University. of the Basque Country.

Seduced by the baroque repertoire, he left his native country and specialized in the Baroque Music Center of Versailles. Desiring to deepen his singing studies, he joined the CNSM in Paris in the class of Glenn Chambers (with honors), which he completed with two years of advanced work dedicated to opera in the same institution. His study of the baroque repertoire enabled him to perform regularly with ensembles such as Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Le Concert d'Astrée (Emmanuelle Haïm), Les Talens Lyriques (Christophe Rousset), Il Seminario Musicale (Gérard Lesne) , Akadêmia (Françoise Lasserre), among others. He also created and directed the ensemble La capilla de música, which specializes in Spanish baroque music. Member of the Choir of the Opéra national de Paris since 2005, he continues to perform as a soloist in repertoires as varied as melody, oratorio and opera, where his lyrical baritone voice naturally leads him to roles such as the title role of Don Giovanni and the Count of the Marriage of Figaro, Dr. Malatesta of Don Pasquale, Belcore of the Elixir of Love or Danilo of the Merry Widow. Without renouncing the Baroque repertoire that he particularly likes, he has also played Poulenc's Masked Ball on tour with the Poitou-Charentes Orchestra, Stravinsky's Renard at the Maison de Radio-France or Andrew Lloyd-Weber's Cats at Théâtre du Châtelet.
