The Berlin oratorio choir is one of the oldest Amateur choirs in Berlin. He was founded in 1904 as "Berliner Volks-choral" and renamed in 1974 as the Berliner oratorio-choral (BOC). The BOC performs several times a year in the Konzerthaus Berlin at Gendarmenmarkt and in the Berliner Philharmonie with a sophisticated classical music program, in which choral music from different eras is presented. The choir currently consists of about 80 active lay singers.

At Pentecost 2013, in cooperation with various choirs from Berlin, Potsdam and Cottbus, the BOC performed the Eighth Symphony (“Symphony of the Thousand”) by Gustav Mahler in the Berliner Philharmonie under the patronage of Marina Mahler. On November 9, 2014, the choir staged a concert performance of the “Fidelio” by Ludwig van Beethoven for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. With a concert on 11. On April 22, 2015, a historical performance of “Israel in Egypt” by Georg Friedrich Händel under the direction of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was reconstructed at the Konzerthaus Berlin.

The Berlin oratorio choir regularly cooperates with other concert choirs and various school choirs . Intensive cooperation exists, for example, with the Uckermärkische Konzertchor and the Singakademie Potsdam.

The concerts are accompanied by professional orchestras, including the Berliner Symphoniker, the New Prussian Philharmonic, the Prussian chamber orchestra and the Brandenburg state orchestra Frankfurt.

The Berlin oratorio choir is the proud owner of a tent plaque, which was awarded on 21 March 2004 by the federal president Johannes Rau in Berlin.
