About
Benedikt Don Strohmeier began his musical education at the age of seven with the piano and took eleven years to the cello. From 1999-2001 he was taught by Prof. Gabriel Rosenberg as a young student in piano at the Musikhochschule in Nuremberg.
Almost at the same time, he was admitted to the cello class of Prof. Walter Nothas at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich as a junior student. He continued this study until 2008 and graduated with a diploma.
A subsequent master's degree in the master class of Prof. Thomas Grossenbacher led him to the Zurich University of Music.
He was honored by multiple federal and special prizes at "Jugend Musiziert", prizes at international competitions as well as a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
Wolfgang Boettcher, David Geringas, Antonio Meneses and others. He attended numerous cello master classes.
He regularly gives concerts as a solo cellist or assistant principal cellist in various orchestras, such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the symphonic orchestras of the BR and HR.
His passion for chamber music he also shared in ensembles with Claudio Bohorquez, Nils Mönkemeyer and Daishin Kashimoto.
Since 2009 he is Deputy Principal Cellist of the Bavarian State Orchestra.
