Béatrice Zawodnik, director of the University of Music of Lausanne, oboist, musical curator

Oboe, programmer and educator born in Lausanne in 1974, Béatrice Zawodnik leads a double musical career, as soloist and chamber musician, and institutional, as director of the Haute Ecole de Musique of Lausanne. She studied in Geneva, Berlin and Freiburg-in-Breisgau, studying oboe and piano simultaneously with, among others, D. Weber, R. Perrenoud, A. Mayer and M. Bourgue, before passing on her virtuosity with distinction, in 2001, in the class of Heinz Holliger.

She completed her musical training with a postgraduate Baroque oboe certificate in 2007. Active in multiple orchestras and chamber music ensembles, her great technical abilities allowed her to deploy her play on an extensive repertoire ranging from Baroque to 21st century music.

It has been heard at various festivals in Davos, St. Moritz, Lucerne, Musica in Strasbourg, Autumn Festival in Paris, Ars Musica in Brussels, Salzburg, Madrid, Shanghai, Huddersfield, to name just a few. renowned, with ensembles and orchestras such as the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Cappella Mediterranea, the Phoenix Ensemble Basel, the Collegium Novum Zürich, the Klangforum Wien, among others.

A great defender of contemporary music, she is a member of the Ensemble Contrechamps from 2000 to 2016 and regularly collaborates with various composers for whom she has created several works.

Believing that the work of musician includes the promotion of music, she engages in various projects of concert programming. She is a founding member of Ensemble Vortex, with which she plays from 2005 to 2011 and whose mission is to defend the creation of young composers, before creating Ensemble Vide, in 2010 and with composer Denis Schuler. interdisciplinary platform for research on contemporary sound.

Also passionate about the transmission of knowledge, Béatrice Zawodnik sees learning as an integral part of her job as a musician. She taught her instrument and chamber music at the Popular Conservatory of Music, Dance and Theater and at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève (2003-2013), coordinated the CEGM pre-professional program (2007-2013) and was professor of didactics at HEM Geneva and Lausanne (2009-2013).

Since August 2013, Béatrice Zawodnik has been appointed director of the Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU), a Lausanne, classical site.
