Since 2009, Avinoam has been working as a pianist for the Israeli Opera House. His work there includes playing in rehearsals, outreach programs, voice lessons with Ms. Patricia McCaffrey, auditions, and in vocal coach lessons with, among others, Mr. David Stern. Avinoam has also been active in the Opera’s educational school programs. He has also served as a vocal coach for the young opera studio singers. As part of his work with the Opera, Avinoam has also toured with two of the House’s soloists to Kiev and Moscow.
Avinoam has great interest in contemporary classical music. In 2005 he played in a world premiere of Israeli composer Zvi Avni’s “Mirage”, in 2006 was one of the players in Steve Reich’s “Sextet” in a masterclass held by the composer himself. In 2007 he played Pascal Dusapin’s Etude no. 5 at the Tel Aviv University Prize award ceremony, with the composer present. In his graduation recital he played a piece for harpsichord and electronics composed for him by Alona Epstein.
Also, as part of his musical career, Avinoam co-organized the “Music Intercultural X-change” project which included workshops and performances in Haifa and Jaffa. The project featured Israeli – Arab and Jewish composers and performers working together to promote mutual understanding and tolerance. The generous subsidy came from Ms. Kathryn W. Davis’s “Projects for Peace”.
