Armel Descotte is named in January 2017 Solo Oboe of the Milan Scala Orchestra under the direction of Riccardo Chailly. Since 2006 he has been oboe soloist of the Opera Orchestra of Marseille.
He starts the Oboe at Mont-de-Marsan with Jérôme Curt and Pascal JEAN, then at Rueil-Malmaison with Daniel Arrignon.
Armel Descotte continues at the CNSM in Paris in the class of Jacques Tys where he gets his award mention very well unanimously.
Studied baroque oboe with Marcel Ponseele as well as chamber music in Maurice Bourgue and David Walter. Armel obtains his chamber music prize with Ensemble Initium, mention very well unanimously with congratulations.
Benefiting from the support of the Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris, his musical activity is very rich, he is invited by numerous chamber music festivals with renowned artists such as Nicolas Angelich, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Radek Baborak, Dag Jensen, Henry Demarquette, Thierry Escaich, Jean-François Zygel, Elisabeth Chojnacka, Laurent Wagschall, Amaury Coeytaux, and is regularly invited by JeanFrancois Zygel during his broadcasts (La Boite à Musique, Théâtre du Châtelet).
His records dedicated to the complete works of chamber music with winds by George Onslow (Timpani, 2011), Charles Koechlin (2012), André Caplet (2013), Jacques Ibert (2014), Reynaldo Hahn (2015) have unanimously hailed by critics ("Shock" Classica, 5 * Diapason, Diapason d'Or, selected best 2015 recording by the New York Times ...) as well as a CD dedicated to chamber music for wind (and with) Thierry ESCAICH published by Indesens.
He is also invited to Prague, accompanied by the Prague Chamber Orchestra, to Rudolfinum (Dvořák Hall) at the Young Prague International Music Festival ..., and frequently asked to play in orchestras the most prestigious such as the National Orchestra of France, The Mito Chamber Orchestra (Japan), the Orchestra Radio-France Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Capitole de Toulouse, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo, the National Opera of Lyon, the Orchestra of the community of Valencia (Spain), the SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, the Paris Chamber Orchestra the Orchester de Paris, the Orchestra of the Scala di Milano, the Filarmonica della Scala ... and works under the chopsticks of Lorin Maazel, Danièle Gatti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Myung-Whun Chung, Franz WELZER-MÖST, Christophe Eschenbach, Kristjan Järvi, Yakov Kreizberg, Tugan Sokhiev, Mikko Franck, Kent Nagano.
He teaches since 2012 at the Cité de la musique in Marseille.
