About
Anne Soldaat studied classical guitar from the age of 10 to 14, after which he started playing guitar in a punk band at his high school.
Once in Amsterdam (study at the VU) he plays successively in a punk / squatter band "Beestenboel" and a Dutch-Kurdish music ensemble. In 1989 he joined the pop band Daryll-Ann. The band breaks up in 2004.
In 2002 he made music with "Flok & Sofie", a puppet film with support from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. He also plays that year on the album "Kriebelvisje" by the Frisian singer / writer Meindert Talma.
In 2004 he made a song with the cartoon of the Newspaper Cat, written and drawn by resp. Nienke Denekamp and Peter Pontiac and published as Gouden Boekje by publishing company Rubinstein.
At the end of 2005, Rubinstein published "The Cat-A-Day Tales", a word / image / music story (book + CD) for which Soldaat wrote the music. In 2006 he produced the second album from the Dutch pop group GEM. In 2007 he records the debut album of the Hospital Bombers. In the same year the first CD of Do-The-Undo - the band of which Soldaat is frontman and songwriter - is released by Excelsior Recordings. An extensive Dutch tour follows.
Soldaat releases his second album In Another Life (April 2009) under his own name. In Another Life is recorded in Los Angeles with singer / songwriter Jason Falkner who has previously worked on records by Beck, Paul McCartney and David Holmes and played for a while in the French band Air.
2009 became one of the most successful years in Anne’s musical career. The press was lyrical about the album and during 2009 Anne made a second round along the Dutch stages. VPRO’s music platform 3VOOR12 nominated the album for best Dutch album of 2009: “Listening to In Another Life, it can safely be concluded that the talent of Anne Soldaat knows no limits. He has been one of the most important musicians in the Netherlands for twenty years and he is still making progress and renewing himself. "
Since 2009 Soldaat also plays as a guitarist in the band of Tim Knol. He also wrote a song for the acclaimed debut CD of the Hoorn singer / songwriter.
In 2011 Soldaat will tour the Dutch theaters with the Rotterdam modern dance company Conny Janssen Danst. Soldaat wrote the music for the performance "ZOUT" and accompanies the dancers with vocals and guitar. "SALT" was nominated that year for one of the dance prizes the Netherlands has: the Swans.
In the beginning of 2012, Soldaat is leaving again for Los Angeles to work with Jason Falkner on the successor of "In Another Life". This CD "Anne Soldier" is released that same year with Excelsior Recordings.
At the beginning of 2013, the Dutch company G-Star Soldaat invites you to write and perform the music at the Berlin fashion show of the jeans brand. Later that year Soldaat produces the debut album of the Dutch-speaking duo Clean Pete.
In 2014 the short film ‘Girl on Film’ will be presented in the EYE, a film by Sander Jansen for which Soldaat wrote and recorded the music
The year 2014 is also dominated by the reunion of the band Daryll-Ann, the band in which Soldaat sings, plays the guitar and for which he - together with Jelle Paulusma - wrote the songs.
Soldaat’s most recent solo album "Talks little, kills many" was released on April 17, 2015. The critics about the album:

In 2016 Soldaat and Bart van Poppel make music for "All you need is me", a documentary by Wim van der Aar about the painting brothers Aad, Justus and Gijs Donker. The film premiered on February 22 of that year.
In 2017 Soldaat works as a co-producer on Tim Knol's fourth album, "Cut The Wire", which was released in early 2018. He is - as a guitarist - also part of the live band around Tim Knol.
Soldaat also plays in 2017 with the theater performance "The Chet Baker Room", in which singer / actor Marijn Brouwers investigates and deepens his fascination for the music of Chet Baker. With Reyer Zwart (bass) and Hermine Deurloo (harmonica).
In 2019, Soldaat, together with Yorick van Norden, created the CD "Unsung Heroes Too", which features new versions of unduly forgotten or undiscovered musical pearls. Van Norden and Soldaat go into the country that same year with the eponymous show. Earlier, in 2017, the duo toured the Netherlands with the first "Unsung Heroes" CD.
In the spring of 2019 the album "Goom Agar" from Speed 78, nom-de-plume by Hein "Don" van Dongen, will be released at Excelsior Recordings. "Goom Agar" is the successor to "Skiffle" (1996). Soldaat recorded the songs in his studio 'The ASociety', played on the album and mixed it all up.
