About
Anna Kontek was born in Poland. After her first degree as an architect in Warsaw, she enrolled at the University of arts and design in Helsinki, graduating with a Master's degree in set design in 1984. Her master's thesis was the sets and costumes for the ballet the Little Prince at the Finnish national Opera in 1982, where she was invited to work that same year. Anna Kontek has designed sets and costumes for more than 150 operas, ballets and theatre productions.

In addition to exhibitions in Finland, her works have been exhibited in Prague, Warsaw, Tokyo, Toronto, Bilbao, Tallinn and Tartu.
Prizes and nominations
Silver medal at the international exhibition Prague Quadrennial (international competitive exhibition of scenography and theatre architecture) in 1995 for the scenography and costumes for the play "the Nightingale"; the Finnish Wihuri prize in 2002 for the costumes for the play "Khovanshchina"; the Best Opera house in 2017 – international award The YAMwards for the Opera "the Magic boy A" with set and costumes of her authorship; the national Opera award "Onegin" in Russia 2017 – in the nomination "Event. Revival/Tradition "for Caesar Cui's Opera "the Caucasian prisoner", in which the scenography and costumes of her authorship. Crystal mask award at the festival " Theatre spring "(Russia, 2018) for the best scenery and costumes of the season for the Opera"Caucasian prisoner".
Awarded a diploma in Poland in 1991 for the promotion of Polish culture abroad; Awarded the Knight's cross in 1999 for services to the Republic of Poland for the development of cultural relations between Poland and Finland; in 2014 received the state award “Knight of the order of the Lion of Finland” from the President of Finland; in 2017 received the state award “Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit” of the Republic of Poland.
