Anna Gabler (born in Munich) is a German opera singer (soprano), who is especially known for her Wagner roles.
Gabler was born in Munich and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. During her studies, she became a member of the Young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera.
This was followed by engagements with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Staatstheater Nürnberg. In addition, she repeatedly accepted invitations to the Bavarian State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden and sang there under Ivor Bolton, Fabio Luisi and Peter Schneider. She made her debut at the Semperoper as Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel in a new production by Katharina Thalbach, Revisions of The Merry Widow and Der Freischütz followed, as well as the role of the daughter in a new production of the opera Cardillac.
In 2007 she sang the Ortlinde in the Valkyrie under Christian Thielemann in Bayreuth and in 2009 was entrusted with the role of Senta in the first children's opera production of the Flying Dutchman. International guest appearances have taken her to the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, the Hamburg State Opera under Simone Young, Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg to the Glyndebourne Festival under Vladimir Jurowski and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus to the New National Theater in Tokyo, where she also gave her role debut as Arabella in spring 2014. In 2012 she was invited as Gutrune to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in the new production of Götterdämmerung. She received the "Festival Award of the Bavarian Opera Festival 2012" for her outstanding interpretive performance in this production.
In March 2013 she made her role debut as Senta in Bologna. In the summer of 2013 she sang the Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in a new production under the direction of Daniele Gatti for the first time at the Salzburg Festival.
In concerts and concertante opera performances she sang Mahler's Symphony No. 8 in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Verdi's Requiem under Yutaka Sado at the Berlin Konzerthaus, Mariana in the ban on Wagner at the Alte Oper Frankfurt under Sebastian Weigle, Ortlinde in Die Walküre with the Berliner Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle and Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Hiroshima and Tokyo, conducted by Eiji Oue.
In autumn 2014 she made her debut at the Helsinki Opera with orchestra songs by Richard Strauss.
Anna Gabler worked with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Stefan Herheim, David McVicar, Christof Loy and Katharina Thalbach.
