Anita Leuzinger was born in 1982 near Zurich and began playing the cello at the age of five. While still a high school student, she was a junior student with Thomas Grossenbacher. After graduation she moved to Thomas Demenga in Basel, where she graduated with honors in summer 2007 with the Soloist diploma.
Already at the age of 23, she won the audition for the solo cello section of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. In June 2008, she won the prestigious Naumburg Competition in New York and is expected to perform her début recital in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in autumn 2009, among other appearances. Previous winners of this competition were u.a. Thomas Demenga, Truls Mork, Gustav Rivinius and Leonidas Kavakos.
The 50% reduction with service reduction allows her to devote herself intensely to her passion for chamber music and perform as a soloist. Her concert career takes her to various festivals in Switzerland and abroad. She received invitations to the Lucerne Music Festival (Début concert on September 2, 2008), Davos Music Festival, Festival "Open - Chambermusic" IMS in Prussia Cove / England, Sommets Musicaux Gstaad, Festival "Viva Cello" and others.
She has been playing regularly with pianist Anton Kernjak for nearly five years now.
Anita Leuzinger plays a cello by Antonio Stradivari from 1698, which is provided by the Stradivarius Foundation Habisreutinger.
