The musical journey of Viennese tenor Angelo Pollak started at the age of six when he was accepted at the gifted promotion program for cello and piano at the University for Music and Arts in Vienna. While still studying with Heinrich Schiff, Wolfgang Herzer and Alma Sauer he performed at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein Vienna, recorded for ARTE and ORF and was awarded various prizes.
After graduating from Highschool he started his singing studies with Prof. Margit Klaushofer at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna, where he is currently completing his Master studies with Charles Spencer. Furthermore, Angelo Pollak attended Masterclasses with Sir András Schiff, Peter Schreier, KS Robert Holl, KS Brigitte Fassbender, Rudolf Jansen and Helmut Deutsch.
The young tenor gained further experiences at the Vienna State Opera (Traumfresserchen, Aladdin). In summer 2013, he debuted at the Salzburg Festival as Lehrbube in Wagner´s Meistersinger under the baton of Daniele Gatti. He worked with renowned directors such as KS Brigitte Fassbender, Stefan Herheim, Aron Stiehl, Itay Tieran and Tatjana Gürbaca and won the first prize at the Festival Vocallis in Vaals and the third prize at the international LiedDuo competition in Enschede (Netherlands) in 2014. In the 2015/16 season Angelo Pollak had his debut at Vienna´s Theater and der Wien under Bertrand de Billy and performed Tamino in Mozart´s Zauberflöte at Daegu Operahouse in Korea. Shortly after, he was admitted to the final round of the renowned Schumann song competition in Zwickau.
In 2016 Angelo Pollak joined Theater Regensburg´s ensemble where he could be heard in various roles such as Tamino, Lyonel (Martha), Steuermann (Fliegender Holländer) and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni). He starred in the critically acclaimed worldpremiere of Die Banalität der Liebe by the Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sheriff, directed by Itay Tiran and worked with directors such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Stefan Herheim, Tatjana Gürbaca or Hendrik Müller. Season 2018/19, Angelo Pollak will be heard at the Mozart OpenAir Festival in Augsburg where he will perform Tamino in a concertante Magic Flute and in December as Don Basilio and Don Curzio making his debut with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under Jonathan Nott.
In past seasons he worked in the leading role of the medial highly praised premiere The Banality of Love by the Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sheriff, directed by Itay Tiran at the Theater Regensburg and worked with directors such as Brigitte Fassbaender, Stefan Herheim, Tatjana Gürbaca or Hendrik Müller.
The sought-after concert singer, Angelo Pollak has a wide repertoire in sacred music and regularly performs at St. Stephan´s Cathedral and Augustiner Church in Vienna. In the past, he could be heard amongst others in a recital at Vincenza Festiva accompanied by Sir Andras Schiff, at the opening of the famous Salzburg Festival together with KS Robert Holl in Haydn´s Schöpfung and performed several song recitals with KS Robert Holl. Other highlights included his debuts in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Vienna, Brucknerhaus Linz, Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow or the Eilat-Musik-Festival in Isreal together with his Sister playing the piano.
