About

Andrea Borghini was born in Siena 28 years ago; he has his first musical experiences with Madrigalisti Senesi chorus, then studies piano and violoncello at Istituto di Musica R. Franci in Siena, right before deciding to focus on singing with Angelo Bertacchi, Bruno Rigacci, Francesco Facini.
 

He’s refining his technique at Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opera Studio with Rudolf Piernay and Margreet Honig, and also at Brigitte Fassbaender and Edith Wiens’ masterclasses. Gustav Kuhn invites him at Tiroler Festspiele Erl in August 2011, with the roles of Biterolf and Wolfram in Wagner’s Tannhäuser.

In December of the same year, he plays Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and in January 2012 he gains a lot of success singing at the RAI tv show "Mettiamoci all'opera".

Finalists at many opera contests, like Opera Pienza’s Benvenuto Franci in October 2011 and Beniamino Gigli in March 2012, in May 2012, he wins VII Concorso Lirico internazionale “Giulio Neri” in Torrita di Siena. He gains also Mietta Sighele’s prize and the participation to some concerts in Montreal at the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques winning the R. Zandonai competition in Riva del Garda in June 2012. In August 2012 at San Galgano and San Gimignano’s Opera Festival circuit, he debuts Figaro in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and he’s the soloist baritone in Carmina Burana.

From September 2012 he’s steady member of Bayerische Staatsoper’s Junge ensemble, where he performs Schaunard in La Bohème, Marullo in Rigoletto, Hermann in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Le Geolier in Les Dialogues des Carmelites, Ascanio Petrucci in Lucrezia Borgia, Morales in Carmen, Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Lorenzo in Capuleti e Montecchi.

He collaborates with Kent Nagano, Asher Fisch, Paolo Carignani, Paolo Arrivabeni, Yves Abel, Zubin Mehta and he performs several times at Munich’s Cuvillièstheater in concert with Joseph Calleja, Kristine Opolais, Jonas Kaufmann, Ludovic Tézier, Nadia Krasteva.

In May 2014 he makes his debut at Opéra Bastille in Paris, playing Lorenzo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, under the baton of Bruno Campanella. In September 2014 sings at Stadttheater of Klagenfurt in a new production of Pagliacci, in the role of Silvio.

Among his future engagements in Munich: Wagner in Boito’s Mefistofele conducted by Welber, Silvano in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera with Mehta, Ruggiero in Halévy’s La Juive, Ping in Turandot, Schaunard in La bohème, il Marchese in La traviata, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Roucher in Andrea Chenier.
