Américo Jacomino, popularly known as Canhoto (1889-1928), was a Brazilian guitarist from São Paulo. The nickname refers to his playing the guitar left-handed. Self-taught, he was the son of Italian immigrants, made his first record for Odeon in 1912, and rose to fame in the 1910s and 1920s; one of his best-known techniques was a dramatic vibrato. In 1917 he composed three of his most memorable pieces, including the waltz Abismo de Rosas.
