About
Old friends are a German music group that emerged in 2017 as the successor to the Wise Guys. The group sings a cappella and describes their style of music as "a cappella pop".
The first album We are there! appeared in December 2017 and only contained new German-language original compositions. The associated tour in 2018 included over 120 concerts in practically all major German cities, many of which were sold out months in advance.
The band's second tour began in August 2019 with the release of their second album Das Leben ist schön. When performing in churches, the show focused on quieter songs with less choreography and a smaller light show.
After the concerts, the band usually organizes an "afterglow" in which they sing one or two songs unplugged (i.e. without reinforcement) in the entrance area of the venue and then stand by the concertgoers for discussions and criticism.
At the beginning of August 2020, the band announced that Olfert would leave the band at the end of the year. A little later, the band introduced Friedemann Petter as their successor. This had made it to the semifinals at The Voice of Germany 2016. From 2018 to 2020 he was a member of the five-member a cappella group HörBänd, which dissolved in 2020.
Just like the predecessor band Wise Guys, old acquaintances support the 2 Euro help from Misereor.
