Born in Rome in 1972, he graduated with honors at the age of seventeen at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome under the guidance of George Schultis, improving with Franco Maggio Ormezovskij at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and, later, with Thomas Demenga at the Musik -Academie of Basel obtaining the Solisten Diplom. In 1995 he won the "Rahn Prize" and was invited to the Zurich Tonhalle by performing the Concerto for cello and orchestra by Schumann under the guidance of Howard Griffith, playing the same concert in Basel, Lucerne, Bregenz, Neuchatel. He has played as the soloist the most important concerts of the cello repertoire. Alfredo Persichilli is the first cello of the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Alfredo Persichilli has performed as soloist the most important concerts of the cello repertoire: the Schumann Concerto at the Tonhalle in Zurich, Basel, Lucerne, the Haydn Concert in Budapest at the Ferenc Liszt Academy with the Budapest String Orchestra, live radio; the Rococo Variations by Čaikovskij in Basel and with the Kiev Philharmonic, the DvoČák Concert in Rome, the Double Concerto for violin and cello by Brahms in Rome, Zurich and Rostov (Russia), where he also held a masterclass on Bach's Suites at the Rachmaninov Conservatory. He was recently invited to perform the Bach and Reger Suites at the "Bach-Reger Tage" in Eisenach. Recorded the integral of the string trios of Schubert and Webern together with those of Schiinberg, Petrassi and Reger. Alfredo Persichilli has been the interpreter of numerous contemporary compositions, classical and avant-garde (Petrassi, Sciarrino, Lombardi, Boccadoro, Holliger, Giovanni Sollima). Among these, some were expressly dedicated to him: The four masks of Dionysus for cello and orchestra by Carlo Galante (first performance with the Virtuosi della Scala), the String Trio by Rudolf Kelterborn, the Concerto for cello and orchestra by Wolfgang Marschner. Together with the Beethoven Quartett, Alfredo Persichilli performed the cycle of Beethoven's last string quartets in Dresden and the main cities of Germany. Alfredo Persichilli regularly plays in the most important concert societies collaborating with musicians such as Andràs Schiff, Anne Sophie Mutter, Miklos Pereniy, Heinz Holliger, Wolfram Christ, Bruno Giuranna.
