Alexander Tarot (Alexandre Tharaud; b. 9.12.1968, Paris) - French pianist.
 

As a child, he studied piano with Carmen Taccon-Devenat, a student of Marguerite Long. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire (class of J. Mounier) in 1985. He studied at the pianists T. Paraskyvesko, N. Magalov, C. Elfer and L. Fleisher. Third Prize at the International Piano Competition in Barcelona (1987). Second Prize at the International Piano Competition ARD (1989).

He has performed with the French National Orchestra, the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and other world famous bands. He played on the stages of Carnegie Hall (New York), Albert Hall (London), the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Participant in major international music festivals in Edinburgh, London (BBC Proms), Aix-en-Provence, Moscow (“December Evenings”). Toured in Europe (including Russia, 2001), Asia, USA.

The repertoire of the Tarot works for clavier and piano ranges from J.-F.Ramo to 21st century composers, with an emphasis on French music. Tarot - the first performer of works by R. Gagno (Gagneux), J. Lenot (Lenots), G. Connesson (Connessons), T. Peck (Pécous), T. Eskesha and other contemporary composers. The best audio recordings of the Tarot include the complete collection of M. Ravel's piano works (recording 2003; Edison Award, 2004), the clavier suites of Rameau (2001), and chamber music by E. Sati (2009).
