Alessio Silvestrin (born September 11, 1973 in Vicenza) is an Italian ballet dancer, choreographer and composer.
Silvestrin had ballet lessons with Maria Berica Dalla Vecchia in his hometown and studied at the Académie de Dance Classique Princesse Grace at Monte-Carlo and at the Ecole Atelier Rudra Béjart in Lausanne. In addition, he studied music at the Conservatory of his hometown and the Académie de Musique Prince Ranier III in Monte-Carlo and was a student of Francesco Valdambrini.
From 1994 he worked as a dancer and choreographer under the direction of Maurice Béjart Béjart Ballet Lausanne, conducted by Yorgos Loukos at the Ballet of the Opéra National in Lyon and from 1999 to 2002 under the direction of William Forsythe at the Frankfurt Ballet, and then as an associated artist from The Forsythe Company. Since 2003 Silvestrin lives as a freelance choreographer in Japan. In 2005, the Aichi Arts Center in Nagoya commissioned him to choreograph and perform Béla Bartók's opera Duke Bluebeard's Castle. In the same year at the Biennale di Venezia his piece Ritrovare / Derivare was performed with the no-actor Tsumura Reijirō, which he had originally choreographed in collaboration with Michael Schumacher and the composer Thom Willems for a performance of the dance company Noism at the New National Theater in Tokyo ,
2006 u. a. a collaboration with the sculptor Anton Himstedt at the Westfälische Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Münster. In 2007 he worked as a guest of the dance company Siameses under the direction of Maurício de Oliveira in São Paulo and participated in the 4th Festival of Modern Dance of Guangdong in China. In 2008, Silvestrin composed, choreographed and directed the play Kakekotoba based on texts from Plato's Phaedo for the Cerulean Tower Noh Theater in Tokyo. In the same year, the audiovisual installation Skinslides for the Ycam Yamaguchi Center was created in collaboration with the video artist Richi Owaki.
