About

A former member of the Opernstudio of Opernhaus Zürich, Moldovan-born baritone Adrian Timpau joins the Metropolitan Opera this season as part of the Lindemann Young Artist Program.

Timpau recently made a debut at the Glimmerglass Festival as Eustachio in Francesca Zambello’s production of Donizetti’s L’assedio di Calais, and this season he joins both Opera Philadelphia under Yves Abel and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under Alondra de la Parra as Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen

Following his professional debut at Moldovan National Opera as Robert in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Adrian Timpau went on to grow his repertoire there to include roles such as Eugene Onegin, Escamillo and Yeletsky (Pique Dame). In Zürich, he has performed as Dancaïro (Carmen) and Schaunard (La bohème) with further roles in preparation including Marullo (Rigoletto), the title role in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) and Ford (Falstaff).

Timpau has been successful in a number of international singing competitions over the last few years, and was invited by Edith Wiens to participate in the 2016 Internationale Meistersinger Akademie in Neumarkt.
