Splendid one day Shanghai Old and New Highlights Tour

Your local professional guide will meet you at the hotel at 9.30 a.m or your preferred time, and your private day tour starts!

The first stop will be the old former French concession area , where you will stop to visit one of the most lovely and green park in this area to enjoy its glory morning activities such as ballroom dancing ,Tai-chi exercise, group singing, water-calligraphy, mix with the locals and learn the interesting culture from your guide. And scroll down along the french concession area to appreciate the beautiful neighborhood with typical "french trees" and local lane houses. Once the center of colonial life, now the hottest and hippest neighborhood in Shanghai.

Then you will follow your guide to one of the most active and famous Buddhist temple -Jade Buddha temple ,while appreciating the two beautiful Buddhas carved out of the Jade from Burma, learn the local religious history and cultures.

After that you stop at the 'heart of Shanghai' – People's Square/ Park area. Besides being a great place to see locals go about their daily life, this is home to the famous Marriage Market on weekends, when local parents come to find a boyfriend or girlfriend for their single children. Also a great place to view different architectures.

Then you will stop for a nice and relax lunch at local authentical Chinese restaurant where you will have the chance to try some of the local most delicious Shanghai dumplings , noodles, veggies, meat etc at your own cost (We will recommend you the best option according to your preference).

In the afternoon continue the tour to famous Yu Garden and it's old town area where you will see the 500 years old Ming Dynasty classic Chinese garden. Huxing Ting tea house by crossing the lucky Nine-turning bridge,  passing by the oldest tea house in China. Outside of Yu Garden, you will see Old City God Temple and Shanghai old street and markets. If you wish to have some shopping time, here is the place to buy tea, antiques, Chinese seals, souvenirs, toys and etc.

Continue the tour to Bund area which is regarded as the free museum of the architecture, along its west bank of the river, there are 26 different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance. It’s also regarded as the “lover’s wall” or “Valentine’s wall”.  By scrolling along the Bund area,you will have a great view of some of the world’s famous skyscrapers such as Oriental Pearl TV tower, Shanghai Wold Financial Tower, Jinmao Tower and the tallest building Shanghai Tower in Asia (the 2nd tallest one in the world) and you will also learn the Shanghai’s colonial history dated back to 1840’.

Then, to the famous Nanjing road shopping street which was part of the British concession about 150 years ago and experience the busy and Bazaar Street while passing by.

Your final stop will be at the most trendy place Xintiandi in the French concession. It's an old classic area-rebuilt with original bricks and famous Shanghai “Shikumen” architecture which was the popular living houses for an up-middle class families dated back to 1920-1930’s. Now, it’s full of pubs, bars, restaurants and you will also have the choice to sit down enjoy a cup of coffee or drinks.

Your guide will drop off you back to hotel at the end of the tour.
