Programme
Overview

From November 28th to December 1st, the "Boundless Silk Road - Wu Man×Wu Wei Pipa and Sheng Residency Program" hosted by Xinghai Concert Hall.

Three concerts and many supporting high-quality activities, with superb piano skills, diverse and integrated musical vocabulary, adapted and improvised folk music works, give traditional instruments a new definition in modern music. For four consecutive days, you are invited to find the future in diverse traditions with the masters of Chinese music, and experience the peak intersection of Wu Man and Wu Wei's ivory tower!

On the afternoon of December 1st, Wu Man performed a pure pipa "solo" personal special for the first time in China, sharing this trust with the Guangzhou audience. In this unique and novel concert, she chose "ancient songs" and "new songs" from different eras. In addition to the popular ancient music such as "Sunset Xiaogu" and "Bawang Xijia" which were circulated in the late Qing Dynasty, as well as folk adaptations such as "Big Waves Washing Sand" and "Yi Dance", there are also many new works created by Wu Man. The inspiration of these new works can even be traced back to the Dunhuang Grottoes, Buddhist temples, folk tunes and court music in China from the 8th to the 12th century. They are full of Wu Man's curiosity and exploration of the history and early music of the pipa, interpreting Wu Man's personal musical style and artistic concept, and showing the diverse language personality of this instrument originated from Central Asian culture in China today. I look forward to experiencing a "barbaric and free" pipa music journey with the audience.
