Overview

On December 13, this “pianist among pianists” will be the finale of the 2024 Piano Masters Series, bringing classics by Chopin, Liszt, Charminade and others!

Stephen Hoff is one of the top contemporary pianists, known for his work as a composer, writer and pianist. He was selected as one of the "20 most learned people in contemporary times" by The Economist magazine, and is also the first classical music performer to receive the MacArthur Fellowship in the United States. He was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014 and the Knighthood in 2022.

Stephen Hoff has recorded more than seventy records and won many awards including the French Diapason d'Or, four Grammy nominations, and eight Gramophone Awards such as "Album of the Year" and "Golden Record Award". In addition, he is an honorary member of the Royal Philharmonic Society, a visiting scholar at Oxford University, a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music, an international professor of the piano department of the Royal Northern College of Music, and a piano professor at the Juilliard School in New York.

Opened in 1998, Xinghai Concert Hall is the biggest and most prestigious concert venue in Guangzhou, famed for its best architectural acoustics in China. The Hall is named after Xian Xinghai, a renowned Chinese composer, who was born in Guangzhou. The Hall consists of three parts, a symphony performing hall with 1500 seats, Chamber Music Hall and Music Material Room. The venue has hosted many world-class musicians and performing groups, including London Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Itzhak Perlman, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Lorin Maazel, Mischa Maisky, Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang and Yundi Li.
