Overview
Experience Romantic brilliance as cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout breathe life into Schumann’s Fantasiestücke and Brahms’s Cello Sonata No.1. An intimate dialogue of poetic nuance and heartfelt expression awaits.Acclaimed cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout invite you to a refined exploration of mid-19th-century Romantic chamber music. The recital opens with Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, three poetic miniatures originally penned for clarinet and meticulously transposed for cello, each movement revealing shades of dreamy lyricism, playful wit and poignant introspection. In the second half, Johannes Brahms’s Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor Op.38 unfolds as a richly textured conversation between cello and piano, its brooding themes and soaring melodies brought to life by Gabetta’s ardent phrasing and Bezuidenhout’s sensitive accompaniment. Together, they weave an evening of profound emotional resonance, transporting listeners to the elegant salons of the Romantic era.
