Programme
Overview
Prize-winning pianist Seth Schultheis merges modern energy and timeless romance in a captivating recital featuring Timo Andres’s vibrant Fiddlehead, Beethoven’s witty Bagatelles, and Schumann’s impassioned Fantasie. Join this rising star for an evening that celebrates the pulse of contemporary music and the heart of Romantic passion. As Aud Jebsen Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music and first-prize winner of the 2025 Telekom Beethoven Prize, Seth Schultheis brings both authority and youthful ardor to each performance. He inaugurates the evening with Timo Andres’s Fiddlehead, a shimmering cascade of pianistic momentum commissioned in 2023, before drifting into Beethoven’s elegantly humorous Bagatelles, whose light wit serves as a playful prelude to deeper emotions. The recital’s centerpiece, Robert Schumann’s Fantasie in C, unfolds as a sweeping love letter, intricately woven with quotations from Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte and imbued with expressive fervor. Throughout, Schultheis balances technical brilliance with poetic intimacy, inviting listeners on a journey from contemporary vibrancy to the heart of Romantic passion.
