Experience a bold celebration of the ‘New Woman,’ culminating in a bespoke finale by Rebekka Dornhege Reyes.She Represents invites you to an immersive journey through the emergence of the ‘New Woman’ in a Lieder recital that spans late 19th-century salon ballads, Weill’s cabaret sharpness and Berberian’s vocal experimentation. Each song is brought to life by costumes evoking the angular geometry of Otto Dix portraits and the fluid grace of Jeanne Mammen watercolours, creating a vivid dialogue between sound and style. Under the soprano’s luminous interpretation and the pianist’s nuanced accompaniment, themes of independence, identity and modern femininity unfold in movements ranging from introspective lyricism to bold self-assertion. The programme finds its climax in a custom gown by Rebekka Dornhege Reyes, uniting historical reference and contemporary craftsmanship in an unforgettable finale.
