Programme
Overview
Don't miss Swedish-Norwegian ensemble Opus13's Winner's Concert, featuring Mozart's intensely dramatic 'Dissonance' Quartet followed by the stirring lyricism of Grieg's First String Quartet. Join the champions of the Wigmore Hall Competition for an evening of profound contrast and heartfelt expression.Having clinched first prize at the 16th Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition with a breathtaking interpretation of Beethoven's Op. 130, the Swedish-Norwegian ensemble Opus13 returns to Wigmore Hall for an eagerly awaited Winner's Concert. The evening opens with Mozart's 'Dissonance' Quartet, whose bold harmonic clashes and operatic contrasts draw listeners into a world of dramatic tension and sudden lyrical release. The second half unfolds in the impassioned folds of Grieg's four-movement First String Quartet, where echoes of Nordic folk melodies and richly textured harmonies reveal the young composer's poetic voice. Tickets are £18 (£16 concessions); priority booking opens 15 April at 10:00am, with general sale from 28 April at 10:00am.
