He opens with Robert Schumann’s late Fantasiestücke Op. 111, where brooding harmonies and impassioned melodies reveal profound introspection. From there, he contrasts youthful whimsy in the Faschingsschwank aus Wien cycle, its capricious rhythms dancing across the keyboard with sparkling wit. After the interval, Chopin’s four Impromptus emerge as spontaneous miniatures—playful, lyrical, and unexpectedly poignant—culminating in the wistful Barcarolle and the mercurial energy of the Scherzo No. 4.
