The programme opens with his Second ‘Razumovsky’ Quartet, its folk-inspired theme setting a resonant foundation. Both Alma and Gustav Mahler then reveal how late-Romantic sensibilities absorbed his harmonic daring into their own expressive compositions. Finally, Anton Arensky’s string quartet, uniquely scored for two cellos, reimagines the same folk melody in a deeper register, crafting a fresh dialogue between tradition and creativity.
