Smetana’s tender Piano Trio in G minor and Tchaikovsky’s impassioned elegy in A minor promise a journey through remembrance and devotion.Experience an intimate chamber concert as violinists Christian and Tanja Tetzlaff are joined by pianist Kiveli Dörken to breathe life into two of the Romantic era’s most affecting piano trios. The program opens with Bedřich Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, a poignant memorial to the composer’s young daughter, where plaintive melodies intertwine with moments of hushed reflection. The second half unfolds Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, an impassioned elegy composed for his dear friend and critic Nikolai Rubinstein, weaving dramatic flourishes and deep lyricism into a powerful tribute.
