Their programme skillfully juxtaposes Schubert’s beloved Lieder—Die Gebüsche and Der Wanderer among them—with selections from Manfred Trojahn’s 2012 song cycle Abendröte, which sets Schlegel’s Abendröthe poems that Schubert never set to music. In their nuanced interpretations each subtle harmonic shift and lyrical inflection conjures the transition from daylight to dusk, inviting listeners into a contemplative space where longing and serenity converge.
