Programme
Overview
Arcadia Quartet presents a thrilling dialogue between youthful genius and classical foundation: Britten’s daring First String Quartet meets Beethoven’s seminal Op. 18 No. 1. Experience two cornerstone works side by side in one unforgettable evening.More than eight decades after its premiere, Benjamin Britten’s First String Quartet reclaims its place as a masterpiece of youthful daring, here presented alongside the spirited foundations of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Op. 18 No. 1. This compelling double bill invites audiences to compare two seminal works born of creative audacity and technical inventiveness at the outset of their composers’ careers. The Arcadia Quartet, fresh from its acclaimed five-star cycle of Weinberg’s quartets, infuses every phrase with precision, passion and fearless interpretation, drawing out the luminous textures of Beethoven’s elegant motifs and the bold, emotive dialogues of Britten’s modern voice. Prepare for an evening of intimate conversation, dramatic contrasts and the transcendent power of chamber music at its most exhilarating.
