Join St Margaret’s Choristers in the hallowed grandeur of Westminster Abbey for a transcendent evening of sacred music—featuring Mozart’s awe-inspiring Requiem alongside Allegri’s legendary Miserere and luminous works by Haydn.Against the majestic acoustic of Westminster Abbey’s soaring arches, St Margaret’s Choristers present a programme tracing the arc of Mozart’s sacred genius. The evening opens with Allegri’s Miserere mei, once jealously guarded within the Sistine Chapel and famously transcribed from memory by a fourteen-year-old Mozart. Next, Mozart’s Ave verum corpus—a brief but exquisitely crafted communion motet—unfolds with gentle lyricism and tender devotion. The second half journeys into the dramatic intensity of Mozart’s final masterpiece, the Requiem in D minor, left unfinished at his untimely death and poignantly completed by his pupil Franz Süssmayr. Interwoven throughout are selections by Franz Joseph Haydn, whose noble melodies and radiant harmonies pay tribute to his distinguished pupil. Beneath the Abbey’s candlelit splendour, this performance offers a moving exploration of faith, memory, and musical mastery—a rare encounter with the sacred heart of Mozart’s art.
