Tsaritsyn Opera

Volgograd State Theater "Tsaritsyn Opera" (until 2004 - Volgograd Opera Enterprise) is a Russian opera and ballet theater in Volgograd.

The opera traditions of Volgograd date back to 1907 when the first opera season opened at the Concordia Theater on the banks of the Tsaritsa River. During the Great Patriotic War, the theater was destroyed, and the opera disappeared from the city stage.

The revival of opera in Volgograd began in the early 1990s. In 1992, the Volgograd Opera Enterprise began rehearsals. Due to the change in status in 2004, the theater acquired a new name - the Volgograd State Theater "Tsaritsyn Opera". As a site, he was given the building of the Palace of Culture. VI Lenin, which is a regional architectural monument.

For the anniversary season 2016–2017, The Tsaritsyn Opera has become the most successful and dynamically developing musical theater in the Volgograd Region. Season 2018–2019 coincided with the opening of the Year of Theater in Russia and turned out to be unique: more than 40,000 spectators attended almost 160 events, the theater carried out several tours, taking part in two prestigious opera festivals.

In 2019, the theater director Leonid Pikman was recognized as the best manager of 2018 in the Culture nomination.
