Teatro Ristori

The Ristori stage presented performers such as Totò, Fregoli, Petrolini, Macario, Wanda Osiris, Cesco Baseggio, Memo Benassi, Annibale Ninchi, Paola Borboni, Gino Cervi, Carlo Dapporto, Renato Rascel, Ugo Tognazzi, Walter Chiari, Dario Fo, until to Paolo Rossi and Roberto Benigni; and, in music, from Pietro Mascagni, Beniamino Gigli, Toti Dal Monte, to Domenico Modugno, Paolo Conte, Gino Paoli, Roberto Vecchioni, Chick Corea, Vasco Rossi.

The Theater, opened in 1837, took its current name in 1856 in honor of Adelaide Ristori , the greatest Italian actress of the nineteenth century, who obtained enthusiastic approval here. It becomes a great city theater, innervated in the cultural and social development of Verona, presenting, in the following century and a half, shows of all kinds, from great prose to opera, from balls to puppets, from the first cinematographic projection in Verona to the show, to variety.

Closed in 1983 because it did not comply with the regulations, the Ristori was purchased by the Cariverona Foundation in 2001 with the aim of returning it to the community. The Superintendence for Architectural Heritage of Verona considered it worthy of protection, a high example of nineteenth-century theatrical architecture.
